What's Right With the World?

Don't turn on the news, you won't find a positive message there.

I'm having a hard time getting motivated to write any blog posts. There's plenty of happenings which would make good post subjects, bad bad news, mindless distractions, and inappropriate reactions to those events. The voices are screaming at me "YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THAT", but I keep my voices repressed. I'm becoming too negative. Another voice states in a calm tween accent "Look for positive news, and shout about that".

So I look and look and look. The more I search for "good" news, the more depressed I become.

I want to go play with my grandkids some more, and forget the rest of this Mad World.

I feel the same way myself. Actually, I'm running into it a lot from other folk. I guess it's just the times we're living in. The Age of Cynicism or something.

I found you via Mary at Get Your Own, and I've been lurking for awhile (cute grandkids, by the way!). I feel similarly to what you state.

I have pulled back from reading so many blogs and news stories. And, somehow, the world has gone on without me!

I don't think that there is any motivation for the media to offer any "good" news. Too boring? They can only manipulate us by filling us with fear? Maybe we have to find the positive in the small things around us (like grandkids). Or.... create it ourselves???

Just some of my thoughts on the subject for what they're worth...

Time to visit HappyNews.com, where they put a happy spin on everything. I'm such a cynic though, that I always find the downside of every "happy" story. I think despair.com is more my style. :-(

Nick,
I forgot to put this in my post...I thought of you the other day when I was at the funeral. (Don't ask) While they were lowering the dick head into the ground there was some guy running laps around the entire grave yard, just the perimeter. I kinda wanted to see him start to vault the headstones. THAT would have been cool. Anywho, I thought of you for some reason.

I agree! I keep hoping that the next 450 some-odd days speeds by... then again we could wind up with rudy. The up side to that is, we'll seriously miss shub then.

agreed totally here...i'm tired of spreading the lies for them...but given our mainstream media owned by one person, it IS hard to find good news....so i, like you - go and play with grandkids...i wish yours were closer like mine are...

but maybe you can volunteer at a girls and boys club - or something like that...hugs
