Friday Brewhuahua

(Rhymes with Chihuahua)

When you value the companionship of a good soul mate, then it's time to share a nice cold brew with your best friend and spiritual advisor.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - After a long day hunting, there's nothing like wrapping your paw around a cold bottle of beer. So Terrie Berenden, a pet shop owner in the southern Dutch town of Zelhem, created a beer for her Weimaraners made from beef extract and malt.

"Once a year we go to Austria to hunt with our dogs, and at the end of the day we sit on the verandah and drink a beer. So we thought, my dog also has earned it," she said.

Berenden consigned a local brewery to make and bottle the nonalcoholic beer, branded as Kwispelbier. It was introduced to the market last week and advertised it as "a beer for your best friend."

"Kwispel" is the Dutch word for wagging a tail.

The beer is fit for human consumption, Berenden said. But at euro1.65 ($2.14) a bottle, it's about four times more expensive than a Heineken.

It's about time. I doubt it will stop any of my beer from disappearing.

At least my pussies don't get in my beer. They turn their noses up at it and fuss for fish.

Love that video! On the beer, is it carbonated? Assuming yes. Is that good for dogs? I think they'd prefer gravy. Or water. $2.14 a bottle doesn't seem that high. I like that word "Kwispel". Good word!

b - Slaved and whipped.

az - I knew you'd like that dancing dog, dances much better than I would.

supergirlest - the dog beer is not alcoholic. I had a friend whose dog would actually steal your beer if you didn't keep on eye on him. He would knock over the bottle and lap it up.

pink ginger - You're welcome here anytime. I don't know a dog's beer limit. Everything in moderation.

blueberry - ?? about the carbonation. Dogs love beer and gravy, I think this beef flavored beer is something in-between. That dog in that video is amazing.
