Where in the world.......
I've been spending this Sunday being lazy and just reading my favorite blogs. It's been a long time since I had a Sunday to just do nothing but what I wanted to do. Thank Dog I have blogs to keep me entertained, TV is sooooooooooooooooooo boring.
It's amazing how time flies when I'm blog surfing.
If you have time, cruise by Texas Oasis and wish Blueberry a Happy Second Blogiversary. She and I have lots in common, and I'm sure, just as many differences. She is an introverted, skeptical, weird, military brat who also lived in New Mexico, and has similar taste in music. Happy Blogiversary, Blueberry.
Then I surfed by Sarah, and the adventures with the Goon Squad, her toddler twins. Her post today is "How Many States have you Lived In? An Informal Poll". Being a military brat, and a military veteran, I started counting them up. Eight States, two countries. But wait, there's also other places I lived for short periods of time (not counting vacations).
It's hard to come up with a exact number, some places were temporary assignments or military training schools. So, for my post today, I made a list.
These are the places I've lived for more than a month, the places in italics are places I had "temporary duty" while in the military, and I didn't count them as places I lived:
Berlin, Germany (Place of Birth)
El Paso, TX
Fulda, Germany
Wildflecken, Germany
South Bend, IN
Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX
Lowry AFB, Denver, CO
Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM
Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS
Langley AFB, Hampton, VA
Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, AK
Leakenheath RAF, Suffolk, England
Woodbridge, VA (Dale City) (multiple military assignments)
Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM (Yes, again, two different times)
Atlanta, GA
Birmingham, AL
Montgomery, AL
Side Note: Think again if you see me as some gung-ho military person. I was a Computer Programmer Software Engineer for most of my military career. In Basic Training, when we went to learn how to shoot guns, they took mine away and suggested I seek a career that didn't involve shooting. Suited me just fine. (It's Not True! But that's the lie I like to tell people).
So, where in the world have you been?

I have only lived in three states, but I have lived in several cities in Florida. I was thinking about it and I lived in 8 different places in Orlando alone.
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Have lived in Utah, Idaho, Washington, Arizona and Montana.
The largest part of my adult life has been spent in Washington, a beautiful state.
I've been in 49 states, many of them numerous times. And a fair of Canada.
Being a people person and an observer I've sat on curbs in LA talking to interesting drunks, and had interesting experiences in NYC.
It's been one hell of an interesting adventure this time around, with this life.
My only real complaint is that the women keep getting more batty and harder to get along with.
So I have chosen to accept that instead of letting them drive me nuts because there is a life without them.
A good life.
I mean, they can have anything they want. As long as they work for it because I got tired of working to give it to them and not getting what I needed.
Some real love and affection. Ah fuck it, it's a crazy world.
I was born in Colorado but my parents moved in the first weeks of my life to Maryland. And here I have been all my life. How sorry. Maybe that's why I love the places I visit so much and want to move there.
Wow! That is a facinating list. Did you learn different languages - including Alabama?
Texas, Hawaii, Florida, Colorado, New Mexico, Illinois, Missouri, and Arizona. Illinois three times, Missouri twice, New Mexico twice, and Florida twice. Overseas I lived in Greece, and when I lived in Hawaii it was not a state yet so still technically out of the USA. I overlap your list at Kirtland AFB. I have moved 80+ times, bag and baggage (moving van style), usually just across town and mostly unnecessary. I learned to speak Greek when I was 11, still remember only a little of it and it's not very useful in everyday life. From my family I learned to understand the "Oklahoma" dialect. ;-)
I am here suffering god's retribution on our home ;-) (read supergirl's post & mine if you are totally lost).
States I have lived in:
Washington DC (is that a state?)
Connecticut
Massachusetts
New York
Alabama
Texas
Kansas
I think that is it. The last three for the longest periods of time. I'd have to check a map to see how many I have visited, but I bet it's over half.
Thanks for the fun diversion!!
All the fuck over. I think I have peed in like 35 diffrent states.
I tried reading all my blogs on my blogroll one Sunday; my eyes were bleeding when i finished.
Well, I've only lived in the province of Québec. I went to 4 different cities. The furthest city was an hour drive. Moreover, I never used a moving company, my family and friends were always kind enough to help me.
I'm pretty stable or boring, all depends how you want to see it! LOL
Loved that video... ;-) hehehe
Love ya!!!
XOXOXOXXO
I guess our love for dogs is what we have in common... LOL
Monroe, La., England AFB, La., Austin Tx., Wright-Pat AFB, Oh., Madison Wisc., WPAFB again, then Kirtland AFB, then London, England.
You were at Lakenheath? We go up there to shop.
Berlin is cool; we were visiting right after the wall came down. My husband just returned from there, said it is very very clean.
never woulda pegged you for a military guy - even minus the guns!
you've lived in some awesome places, my friend!
