"... As the New York sunset disappeared..."
Empty Garden
What happened here
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain
And what's it for
This little empty garden by the brownstone door
And in the cracks along the sidewalk
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain
And what's it for
This little empty garden by the brownstone door
And in the cracks along the sidewalk
nothing grows no more
Who lived here
Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And we are so amazed
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And we are so amazed
we're crippled and we're dazed
A gardener like that one no one can replace
And I've been knocking but no one answers
And I've been knocking most all the day
Oh and I've been calling
oh hey hey Johnny
Can't you come out to play
And through their tears
Some say he farmed his best in younger years
But he'd have said that roots grow stronger
A gardener like that one no one can replace
And I've been knocking but no one answers
And I've been knocking most all the day
Oh and I've been calling
oh hey hey Johnny
Can't you come out to play
And through their tears
Some say he farmed his best in younger years
But he'd have said that roots grow stronger
if only he could hear
Who lived there
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
Now we pray for rain, and with every drop that falls
We hear, we hear your name
Johnny can't you come out to play in your empty garden

I haven't seen that before, but there are a lot of things I haven't seen I suppose.
And a lot of people see even less than I do, they are too busy flying around the planet screwing it up.
So it's 44.6 degrees this morning and looks like it will be a decent day. I may work outside some. Hugs.
Good morning Nick,
Very nice post today. Thank your for your Friday Sunshine post.. ;-)
I've been a little tired of negativity this past week.. ;-)

thanks - beautiful poem...and john was one of my fav guys...he spoke to my heart...
Hi BSB.
Yes, I'm glad its Friday, too, but my Saturdays mornings are busy also.
I can read AB's blog, after she got my e-mail address. Don't know what happened between her and **whisper** "you know who". ;-)
Glad you like John Lennon. I love his philosophy and the poetry of his lyrics. So many good words to live by. "Watching the Wheels" sounds like my life at times and "Imagine" is so simple, with such deep meaning.
Have a good Friday, I'll be talking to you later.
XOXOXOXOXXXO
Hi AZ, John's words are timeless, he speaks to my heart, also.
Hugs
Beautiful. Gracie has an incredible tribute up as well.

Yes indeed, you and gracie have done a wonderful job with your tributes. It's almost impossible to "imagine" any more.
I remember that day very well.. I was in high school, when it happened....
I never used an alarm clock growing up.. my grandfather would always wake me and give me the news... I'll never forget that day half asleep and just picturing this tragedy...
I chose to remember the man NOT the tragerdy... xoxoxox
I absolutely love your tribute to John. It's still hard for me to believe that 26 years have passed since that tragic winter night.
You might enjoy "The Lost Interview " which is a must read from last year's Counterpunch. I added it later to the post but don't think it was up when you stopped by. Thanks.
Great site, btw.
So many tributes. For such a good man.
Just wanted to say merci.. ;-)
XOXOXOXOX
OT, but if you have time, go to my "other" blog at http://www.hillthis.blogspot.com/ and see what I have to say about my most DESPISED troll.
Have a great weekend.
I will always love John Lennon, warts and all.
Now I'm her troll, that is pretty funny. It's like "I'm supposed to care what she thinks?"
Yeah, right. Anesthetists and so called humanists are just as fucked up as everyone else, maybe more so.
Spout off about me all you like country gal, it will at least be an interesting pissing contest and God sure does enjoy them. :-)
Nice post Nick.
