Quotes Tag

Blueberry tagged me. I'm guessing the tag was favorite quotes. So here it is:

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." - Albert Einstein

”As the intelligent and caring disappear, overwhelmed by the stupidity and deceit, the oblivious babbling buffoons will take over and fill the vacuum with inane nonsense designed to lull the unaware into a false sense of security, just before we fall off the edge of the earth.” - Debra (

"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do..And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you." - George Carlin

"What is the use of a house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on? "
"It is not enough to be industrious; so are the ants. What are you industrious about? "
"An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day. "
-
Henry David Thoreau

"Close the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don't try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure out what you have to say. It's the one and only thing you have to offer." - Barbara Kingsolver

I tag anyone wanting to participate.

Good quotes, and Albert is always a favorite of mine. But it's important to learn more about him than just his quotes.

Read Einstein On Peace. Thick book, will take a while.

We are the invisible man living in the sky.

That Carlin quote is one of my faves too. I have that audiobook on my ipod. I love how he talks about how we think people who believe in aliens are freaks but people who believe in an invisible being in the sky are A-OK!

I like Thoreau's quote on the ants. I feel like one of those damned ants sometimes.

Very interesting quotes.

I did something similar once upon a time.

"The Power Within"

Power is neither male or female, black or white, rich or poor. A person's worth cannot be based on gender, race or class. Power must be found within you, for it has nothing to do with what you are but with who you are.
