One Year Ago

I started this blog one year ago today with this first entry:

First entry

Some of those words became part of my DISCLAIMER on the bottom of right frame of my blog.

I started this blog to get some of these voices out of my head and to have record of my opinions. A big reason was the politics and the direction of the country. I knew our Leader Dearest was bad news and the decisions about Iraq were wrong, but I had had no record. Since I was moving around so much, no one really knew my opinions at the beginning of this mess. So now when I have a opinion on a political matter, as well as anything else that pops into my head, I document them here. I don't usually pay much attention to the political nonsense, and you won't find many posts with that theme, but when I do have something to say, I want an outlet and a record.

You will find few posts about religion, which I find is even more nonsensical than politics. Mostly this blog is just my random thoughts of the day, sadness and joy, frustrations and successes. It is a form of therapy.

I have found many people with similar thinking, and found some wonderful blog friends. Thanks to all my regular readers.

I Toast you all. Blog On.

Congratulations nick! I have found that blogging is so much more satisfying than keeping a journal, which is something I have done on and off for years. Must be the interaction with the "blogging community" and "meeting" so many great people.

A lot of what you write really resonates with me. Here's to many more years of blogging!

Happy blogging anniversary!!! I, too, have found many fantastic people and blogs online. Thank you for your contributions.
BTW, I have a post up at http://www.hillthis.blogspot.com/ that I think you might enjoy. That is my "bad" blog. Would love for you to stop by for a visit. ;-)

Happy Anniversary my friend!

Three months ago, I didn't even know what a blog was. A friend at school vaguely told me about hers and when I got the shave, I thought this would be a good way to share my thoughts and feelings.

I never thought that anybody except my students, friends and family would be reading my blog. In my mind, only the people to whom I gave my address would be logging on.

The first unknown message : "I think you look great. My mom just died of cancer, and I always thought that even with out her hair she looked beautiful. Thank you for your sacrifice.
A.B"

Needless to tell you, I cried all evening after reading this message. I couldn't get over the fact that this person had taken the time to thank me??? To lose her mom to cancer and thanking me for my sacrifice.. It's so unfair..for me, it's just hair..but for her.... I still get emotional just thinking about it.

This blogging experience has taken on a life of its own. I never would have imagined this. I'm very greatful for all the kind people who drop by my little space on the net. It's always nice to read your comments as well.

Going from one blog to another is very interesting for me as well. I didn't think that this was part of the blogging experience. I'm learning as I go along and enjoying every minute.

Nick, I don't really know how I got to know you? Did you drop by my blog, did I drop by yours? Do you remember?

The only thing I can say is that I truly enjoy reading you every day and I most definitely enjoy your company on here.

Thank you for this experience.

Blog on! I like that...

XOXOXOXXO

Cheers for your one year anniversary! I just started reading your blog and it's nice to find kindred spirits in the blogasphere (sp?)

My area is sooo conservative & right in the thick of the Bible Belt so isolation can be be a real problem at times. Here's a toast.............

BSB, I think I roamed into your blog while reading comments from another blog, but I can't really remember. I could go research the comments, but I'm too busy for that. It's not important, I'm just glad to have met you and to have you to "talk" to everyday. Your story about how you started blogging is wonderful, its a great cause and close to my heart for obvious reasons. I hope to be celebrating the next year of blogging by getting to know you better.

Melissa. Thanks for the song, time for cake yet?

Hey AB, I love the Indigo Girls. I have even posted their lyrics and had at least one post on this blog about one of their songs. Not much of a KD Lang Fan, I just haven't heard much of her music in my circles.

Hi Gracie, Thanks for stopping by. I have been to your blog many times.

My area is also very conservative and in the middle of the Bible belt, also. One of the things the locals asked me when I moved here is "where do you go to church?". They frowned when I laughed. I have been to a local UU Fellowship a couple of times since moving here, on the advice of a friend who said "even the atheists go to church in Montgomery". It sadly true, they identify you here by where you spend Sunday. My whole social life now revolves around my running club, most of whom are also not from this place.

Nick, just a reminder, BSB found you through me. That of course was before she became a disappointment to me. Like the brat that swears like a trucker, yet got pissed off because I did some. :-)

It's okay, we move on, always moving on, time stands still for no one.

STOP IT PLEASE!
This is NICKS blog, not ours dont spoil his happy anniversary blog with your banter. As much as it pains me to say it BBC is allowed to go where he pleases unless the blog author states other wise. Nick, I'm sory for the flippage. If you guys want a blog to go to and bitch at eachother SET ONE UP. Call it the Screaming Room or something. And I get the credit.
